Plan of Management
Caring for country and culture are our highest priorities and we aim to be leaders in Indigenous land management.
We have defined our vision and outlined the projects that will drive our work and keep us focused. These projects are outlined in our Indigenous Protected Area Plan of Management, also known as our IPA Plan.
The plan highlights our assets and our priorities. It frames our approach to dealing with threats and seizing opportunities. We’re committed to monitoring and measuring our progress so in 10 years’ time we can see how we’ve achieved the goals our elders initially outlined nearly 30 years ago. We also are committed to listening to community feedback and making changes when needed, and we do this through our MERI framework.
The current IPA Plan is for the years 2022-2032 and is derived from many years of participatory planning under the participatory healthy country planning framework. This specific plan was created through yarning with over 20 clan groups. They worked with Indigenous rangers, researchers and scientists to identify and prioritise Mimal's key environmental and cultural assets, understand threats and plan how to manage them. It follows on from and supersedes our Healthy Country Plan from 2017.
